KHADIJA ABUBAKAR SADIQ

Worked as a general duty medical officer who attends to staff and their families across the specialties of Internal Medicine, Surgery , Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Took accident and emergency calls independently with review by relevant Consultants. Also ran out-patient clinics independently and joined specialist clinics and assistance in the theatre for major surgeries.

As a medical Officer, I was the first point of call to the staff and their families at the outpatient clinics. During night and weekend calls, I attend to the needs of both in-patients and emergencies.

The mandatory National Youth Service Programme was my first exposure to independent practice at a Primary Health Care facility where I ran daily clinics treating minor ailments including stabilizing serious cases before referring to relevant hospitals. I also gave health talks and counselling sessions while there.

As an Intern, I worked under supervision to learn basic skills that would prepare me for independent practice. I subsequently rotated through the four major departments of Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology where I was put through all that a doctor needs to practice fully with the Medical Council.
