️ My mission is to give my Résumé, LinkedIn, and Cover Letter clients an edge in the intensely competitive environment of consumer-packaged goods (CPG) recruiting. Unlike most professional résumé writers who market their services to everybody, my services are focused only on the ConsumerPackaged Goods industry. I have spent my entire career in this industry. It is the industry that I know best. I have been a recruiter in CPG and I know the companies and the positions. I know what CPG companies are looking for in successful candidates. I know the keywords and phrases that will optimize the power of my client's résumés. As a consultant, I've had the opportunity to work with a number of companies to develop and roll out Mission, Vision, and Values statements. When these statements are thoughtfully crafted, they resonate with employees. Employees take ownership of them and live them. I've witnessed the unifying power and sense of shared purpose that these statements can generate within an organization. They become an ingrained and essential part of the company's culture. Unfortunately, I've also seen these initiatives fail. So, when I started Handcrafted Resumes, I spent a lot of time thinking about the notion of my mission, vision, and values. I worked to come up with a simple tagline that would in essence, be my mission statement. I wanted this tagline to be meaningful to my clients and potential clients. The tagline needed to communicate why I do what I do. "GIVING YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE" was the survivor of this process. All of the services that I provide my clients are designed to give them an edge over the hundreds of qualified candidates that they may be competing against. It is my singular objective, and it underpins everything that I do. Here are a couple of statistics. In a "normal" year, over 6 million people in the US are active in the job market. Less than 5% of these people will take advantage of the services and counsel that a reputable, certified professional résumé writer can provide. This fact indicates that a very small percentage of job seekers may hold a significant advantage over the vast majority of others who seek the same jobs. Last year I wrote 136 résumés for CPG industry professionals.
