Dr. Femi Idowu-Adegoke (FAIWMES, MCIWM) is a Chartered Waste and Environmental Sustainability Expert with over 23 years of professional experience in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. He holds a Masters and Professional Doctorate in Advanced Municipal Solid Waste Treatment Technologies and Collection Implications, an MSc in Environmental and Earth Resources Management from Kingston University, UK, and a BSc (Hons) in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria. His professional development includes courses at Cranfield University, UK. Co-founded Ecoviridis Environmental Technology Limited, a company converting recyclable waste into secondary raw materials, and he is the Managing Director of Mechris-Planet Environmental Management Limited, a sustainable waste management consultancy. He has extensive expertise in municipal solid waste management and the circular economy, gained through working with local authorities and consulting firms in United Kingdom from 2002 to 2012. Currently, Dr. Idowu-Adegoke serves as the Special Assistant on One Health to the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare at the Federal Ministry of health and Social Welfare. He served as Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of State for Environment from September 2023 to November 2024 at the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria. In 2024, he was appointed Thematic Lead for the Circular Economy and Natural Ecosystems and Forest Group of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) Sustainability Policy Commission. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Leadership and Sustainable Development and is a Doctoral Fellow of the International Institute of Leadership and Manpower Management Development. Dr. Idowu-Adegoke also serves on the Boards of Trustees for the Trees on Earth Foundation, the Centre for Civic Engagement and Citizens Support, and the Circular Business Network. A Fellow of the Africa Institute of Waste Management and Environmental Studies (FAIWMES) and an Africa Waste Warrior Ambassador, Dr. Idowu-Adegoke is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management UK (MCIWM), the Waste Management Society of Nigeria (WAMASON), and the Energy Institute (EI). He is also a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and its African Chapter, the Recycling Association of Nigeria (RAN), and serves as the Executive President of the Lagos Recyclers Association (LAGRA). A passionate advocate for sustainable development and nation-building, Dr. Idowu-Adegoke actively promotes initiatives that empower youth and foster organizational growth.
