VISION
My vision of Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, is that of a well-managed, efficiently running modern hospital with the highest standard of service delivery. My goal is to use this hospital to cater for as many patients as reasonably possible to alleviate their health challenges.
Funding of the Hospital:
In my thinking I have not restricted myself to the expectation of Federal Government funding only. In realization of the constraints of Government to fund all sectors I have exercised my mind to identify partners who could fund major projects. These include local and international private, governmental and non governmental bodies who, if well informed and liaised with, can include this hospital as a beneficiary of some of their projects to be funded or grants to be approved as part of their normal humanitarian aid activities. Remember that on the world scale we remain a resource challenged nation that qualifies for a wide range of aid especially in the health sector.
Growth Paths of the Hospital
Presently Federal Medical Centre Ebute Metta has two identifiable growth trajectories. I see both paths developing side by side as funding becomes available. Our present site in Ebute Metta serves a teeming metropolitan population in great need of our services now and into the foreseeable future. The need here is new infrastructure including fit-for-purpose modern buildings, power units and new medical and surgical equipment of diverse nature. This will enable the hospital handle more patients and provide a wider range of services. A stepwise year-on-year approach is my thinking of the way forward such that within a year or two, one or two major projects can be completed and quick notable impact achieved. Our permanent site at Badagry is the flagship of the hospital. Extensive and exhaustive short, intermediate and long term plans will be made for its development into a cross border international medical centre. Public - Private sector participation is also the key to achievement of this centre coming into reality. Moreso,it is likely that the immediate environs of this site quickly becomes a centre of rapid development with the recent discovery of oil, resulting in a large potential clientele base for the centre.
Staff Management in the hospital:
Staff working conditions play a very important role for optimal service delivery in the hospital. I intend to engender an environment in which staff are encouraged to develop themselves and develop ideas which are congruent with and result in appreciable real advantages and improvements to the functioning of the hospital. I believe that without this, staff would only contribute their barest minimum which does not make for progress of the institution.
