As a senior secondary school Government teacher, I worked closely with students to help them understand Government not just as a school subject, but as something that directly affects their lives as citizens. I explained political and civic concepts in simple, relatable ways, encouraged questions and open discussions, and guided students patiently as they prepared for examinations such as WAEC and NECO. My focus was always on helping students build confidence, think critically, and see the relevance of what they were learning beyond the classroom.Outside formal teaching, I took on the role of a mentor, offering guidance and support to students as they navigated both academic and personal challenges. I worked collaboratively with colleagues and school administrators, kept proper academic records, and communicated with parents when necessary to support students’ progress. I also made a conscious effort to keep improving myself professionally, knowing that being an effective teacher means constantly learning, adapting, and showing genuine care for the growth and future of every student.
