Summary

I am a hardworking, creative, and imaginative person who enjoys working and performing in challenging context. In the last 5 years, I have been working in Goma on context monitoring and analysis, stakeholders engagement, humanitarian coordination and donor working group member before relocating to Kinshasa as team member of the British Embassy's Eastern DRC Unit. I am involved in peace, security and humanitarian affaires since the time I joined the United Nations Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) where I worked as field-based Community Liaison and responsible for the Civil Society Support Pillar responsible.
I am so confident that my combination of practical work experience and solid educational
experience make me a successful candidate for the Security and Humanitarian Access position in Danish Refugee Council.

Work History

Policy Officer – Conflict, Humanitarian and Political

  • Lead discrete areas of eastern-DRC related policy and programme delivery for the embassy. Draw on a wide range of internal and external contacts, as well as strong judgement, and in-depth analytical and decision-making skills, to synthesise evidence on complex issues and provide expert advice to senior staff and embassy leadership, including through oral and written briefings and reports. Proactively plan ahead for opportunities to further these agendas.
  • Support UK objectives on Preventing Sexual Violence and Safeguarding in eastern DRC, by leading relationships with relevant partners in the east and identifying opportunities to further these agendas, supporting the Kinshasa-based Social Development Adviser.
  • Provide sound technical analysis peacekeeping issues in eastern DRC, with guidance and oversight from Kinshasa-based conflict and humanitarian advisers. Demonstrate interest and capability to further develop conflict and/or humanitarian technical skills in line with the FCDO technical competency frameworks, supported by Kinshasa-based conflict and humanitarian advisers.
  • Represent His Majesty's Government in external engagements, for example with local and international NGOs, analysts, UN, MONUSCO, civil society, religious leaders, and provincial government. Build and maintain this network of contacts, leading many of these relationships independently. Represent HMG at weekly external humanitarian coordination meetings – COPH.

  • Ensured the political engagement for the British Embassy office in Goma through political contact-making, reporting, advice, project management and representational duties.

  • Represented Civil Affairs Section, when necessary, in various meetings organized by the South Kivu Provincial Health Division coordination in the framework of the Provincial Coordination for Ebola Riposte.
