I also institute a management plan and refer when necessary while also keeping my seniors informed.

  • Pre operatively, I carry out detailed clerkship and document relevant medical histories, assess patients, counsel them and their relatives, obtain informed consent, request for appropriate investigations, and optimize patients before surgery.
  • Post operatively, I carry out post op reviews and clearly document. I thoroughly examine patients, op sites, drain tubes, looking out for any complication that will require immediate intervention.
  • Assisting in procedures like appendectomy, herniorrhaphy, exploratory laparotomy, breast biopsy, caesarean section, myomectomy, prostatectomy, ORIF etc.
  • Identify and diagnose acute abdomen and the different underlying causes, request for necessary investigations, institute initial management and inform the consultant for definitive management.
