With Ted Turner (CNN founder), initiated the first-ever insertion of climate change into world trade talks (UN Geneva, September 2007). Led and inspired the transformation of the world's canmaking industry — founded the World Can Making Machinery Manufacturers Association and MetPak (the world's first global canmaking exhibition, held every 3 years), and co-founded the trade magazine The CanMaker. Founded Manufacturing Challenge in the UK, delivering economic transformation in his native North East and authoring two White Papers on UK Competitiveness (1993).
