Work History

Lecturer I

Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
Lafia
06.2019 - Current
  • Lectured upper division undergraduate class of 105 students; demonstrated new techniques and evaluated laboratory write-ups. Faculty of Agriculture Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
  • Providing my students with the analytical and practical skills useful, including the ability to think and express one’s self logically and the capability to learn outside the traditional classroom setting. I did this by modeling these behaviors in my own research and teaching and by providing appropriate opportunities for students to practice and develop these skills. Logic and independent learning are particularly important, but not exclusive, to the study of animal production from years 2 & 3 in General Agriculture (AGR 211), Farm Practice I (AGR 212), Principles of Animal Production (ANS 221), Farm Practice II (AGR 222), Non-Ruminant Animal Production & Husbandry (ANS 311), Farm Practice III (AGR 312), Ruminant Animal Production & Husbandry (ANS 321) and Farm Practice IV (AGR 322).

Research Fellow

Ahmadu Bello University
Zaria/ Kaduna
05.2019 - Current
  • Performed artificial insemination and semen collection laboratory unit. Conduct herd health fertility examination in multiple species. Supervise bull stud station and management of studs. National Animal Production and Research Institute, Shika, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria.
  • I examined phytochemical constituents of the medicinal plants extracts, analysed the spermiogram, serum hormonal profiles (follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinising hormone and testosterone), sperm DNA integrity, serum biochemical enzymes, serum lipid profiles , activities of testicular superoxide dismutase and catalase, concentrations of reduced glutathione and testicular malondialdehyde.
  • Routinely carried out testicular and extragonadal (epididymal) sperm reserves and histopathology of testes, epididymides, pituitary and pineal glands of rabbit bucks.

Graduate Research Assistant

Ahmadu Bello University
Zaria/ Kaduna
05.2013 - 05.2016
  • I carried out sperm DNA fragmentation index tests, sperm cells staining and examination.
  • Evaluated oxidative stress biomarkers such as catalase, superoxide dismutase, malonaldehyde and glutathione peroxidases.
  • Evaluated of triglycerides, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein -cholesterol (LDL-C), concentrations of creatinine and urea, activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransaminase (ALT) .
  • Performed the histology of testes, pituitary and pineal glands.
  • Gained some knowledge of computational and statistical analysis of biological systems by using softwares viz. SPSS-17, and GraphPad Prism 5.

Undergraduate Researcher

Ahmadu Bello University
Zaria, Kaduna State.
09.2000 - 09.2008
  • Determined the ovulation time in primiparous laboratory rats, with the specific objectives of counting the number of Graafian follicles present in the ovary at the time of oestrus, determining the percentage of these follicles that eventually ovulate and determining the 'spread' of ovulation during the oestrus period.
