As the People, , I lead the people function that supports over 800 staff across all Bridge community schools program in Lagos and Osun, as well as other government partnership programs in 3 states namely; Borno (Partnership with the Borno Government and Nigeria Stock Exchange), Edo (EdoBEST) and Lagos (EkoEXCEL). In addition, I manage complex cross-functional HR programs and support projects working across multiple teams- both in Nigeria and across our countries of operations in the UK, USA, Kenya, Liberia, Uganda, India, and China.

My responsibilities include;.

  • Collecting data and using data analysis to drive key decisions and continuous improvement across core HR competencies like organization design, organizational diagnostics, workforce planning, rewards, performance management, talent management, employee relations, etc.
  • Proactively supporting the execution and delivery of all HR programs and organizational development processes such as performance management, talent management, leadership and managerial development programs, compensation and benefits processes, organizational survey action-planning, programs fostering organizational corporate culture, diversity, and more.
  • Developing employee communications plan, managing and advising on people aspects of organizational change and transition, recommending process improvements (i.e. Growth, reshaping, transition of services/roles/people).
  • Coaching and mentoring business leaders on employee engagement and capacity building within their departments and teams.
  • Driving Talent Acquisition across all our programs (recently hired over 200 staff for EkoEXCEL- our technical partnership program with Lagos State government).

I was recruited as pioneer Head HR to ensure the development and consequent implementation of strategic HR intervention plans of one of the fastest hospitality Company in Nigeria with 1,600+ employees (The Company grew from 3 locations to over 17 multi-site locations, and 400+ to 1600+ employees in 3 years). My core responsibility was to attract, hire, retain and develop a world-class leadership and customer-centric workforce through strategic HR policies, procedures, initiatives and developmental plans.

Accomplishments.

  • I set up the HR department, recruited, and led an efficient and effective 14-person Human Resources team that served over 1600+ employees spread across multiple locations in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Devised strategies and infrastructure for all Human Resources functions to support over 1600+ employees across various locations.
  • Some of the functional areas include; workforce planning, talent management, talent acquisition, performance management, strategic planning, policy advice, and implementation, rewards, succession planning, corporate culture enhancement, employee data administration, organizational development, employee on-boarding and orientation, learning and development, diversity promotion and employee relations.
  • Hired 7 key top management staff, thereby strengthening the management team; advised and worked with heads of various departments to determine effective manning levels, work requirements, design job descriptions and oversaw the strategic hiring and on-boarding of 800+ employees on strict deadlines for nine (9) newly opened stores.
  • Raised employee satisfaction by 15% through designing interventions such as employee engagement strategies and merit and annual incentive programs that support organizational compensation philosophies.
  • Reduced employee attrition from about 52% to 20% by using data from HR analytics to; analyse feedback and performance evaluations, understand hiring trends, enhance staff welfare, drive learning and development, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Coached/mentored supervisors, managers and management on HR policies, and procedures knowledge as it pertains to progressive discipline, performance evaluations, conflict management, employee relations, employee engagement and employee development.
  • Performed benchmarking and market pricing of jobs, redesigned and re-aligned compensation structure to attract and retain talent, ensuring high performers were at least at 65% of industry benchmark.

  • Responsible for 8 client accounts averaging approximately 500 worksite employees.

  • I analyzed and diagnosed business challenges and resolved same through strategic interventions and solutions.
  • After one and half years, got promoted to Senior Associate Consultant (3 levels above previous level) for exceeding expectations.
  • In this role, I led business advisory and business support services such as corporate strategy development, business planning, financial modelling, business intelligence, organization development, etc.

Accomplishments.

  • Improved NIPCO's (an oil and gas downstream company in Nigeria) service stations' revenues by at least 60% by performing business needs analysis to isolate problematic issues responsible for revenue leakages. This saved NIPCO about eighty thousand dollars within 6 months
  • Facilitated organizational restructuring for Pinnacle Oil and Gas limited - an Oil and Gas Exploration company. This process also involved revalidation and articulation of the company’s corporate strategy, update of company organization charts and employee directory and sourcing for talents where manpower gaps existed.
  • Oversaw a feasibility survey and created a credit manual for Bank of Industry (BOI) and United Nations Development Fund Access to Renewable Energy (BOI/UNDP AtRE) project on SMEs' access to finance in Nigeria.
  • Also, as part of the AtRE project, I assisted entrepreneurs in the renewable energy sector, to develop their business plans as well as to restructure their business model so that they can readily access funds from BOI.
