- 1. My Pre-operative Responsibilities
- Prepare and check anesthesia machines and ventilators
- Ensure availability of drugs (e.g anesthetics, emergency meds)
- Set up patient multi parameter monitoring machine in monitoring patient ECG, pulse oximeter, BP, temperature and CO2
- Assist in patient assessment when taking medical history, allergies, and vital signs
- Prepare airway equipment such as laryngoscope, endotracheal tubes, gum elastic buggie and laryngeal mask airway
- 🔹 2. Intra-operative During Surgery
- I actively assist the anaesthesiologist while anesthesia is being administered to patient
- Help the anesthesiologist induce and maintain anesthesia
- Monitor patient’s vital signs continuously
- Assist in airway management most especially in intubation support
- Adjust equipment as needed during surgery
- Be ready to respond to emergencies e.g. when patient has cardiac arrest or airway issues
