In March 2019 i joined the IT team as an IT ISAP Trainee. I trained as an IT ISAP Trainee for 3months. During these 3months i had job rotations round some units in the IT department starting from The IT Service Desk.
In the IT service Desk i got to experience how to:-
1. Manage service requests, problems and incidents
2. Address IT concerns of all departments in the organization
3. Monitor reports and metrics and other critical tasks handled by the IT Service Desk.
I moved to the IT Support team where i got to learn and also handle tasks such as:-
1. Installation, configuration and maintenance of computers.
2. Desktop Support: Providing direct Assistance to End Users.
3. Ensuring clients websites and applications stay up and running and other Critical Tasks handled by the IT support team.
Then I moved to the IT Operations Team. In the IT Operations team i got hands on Experience in the Various units in the IT Operations Team :-
1. Network Team: Holistic view of the Network Infrastructure and its functions and Practices:-
a. Configurations and network management.
b. Monitoring network infrastructure health and traffic flows and other Critical Tasks handled by the Network Team.
2. Server and Datacenter Team: Holistic view of the Server Infrastructure, The Datacenter, functions and Practices:-
A. Datacenter Support and Management.
B. Managing and provisioning infrastructure resources for internal users such as DevOps teams and external users including customers and partners
C. IT infrastructure management functions including configuring, managing, and delivering IT environments using on-site and off-side data center and cloud infrastructure resources
D. Managing software licensing and upgrades
E. Setting up and authorizing software, hardware, and server resources for new users and other Critical Tasks handled by the Server and DCS Team.
I joined the IHS Skill Acquisition Programme In July 2018. I attended a two week class training and after that i commenced on the Job Trainings around the Company.
The First Department i trained in was the commercial department where i trained in the various units in the commercial department. I learnt about the processes and all daily tasks and major projects handled by the commercial department as a whole. I also worked on Various Tasks.
This training lasted for a month.
Then i moved to the operations department. I trained in all the units and learnt about the fundamentals of the Operations departments. I also learnt and experienced the daily tasks and challenges experienced on site by engineers and operations team members. I visited sites, worked with the diesel team, projects team and other critical teams in the operations department. I worked on various tasks and Projects and had first hand experience working in the field. This Training lasted for a month.
I moved to the NOC department. I trained in the various Units in the NOC departments i.e Change Management team, Affectli team and other teams in the department. This Training lasted for one Month.
I moved to IT Department. I trained in the Various units of the IT Department. I learnt about the processes and all daily tasks and major projects handled by various units in the IT department as a whole. I worked with the IT Service Desk team, Support Team, The IT operations team (DCS and Network Team),The Applications and Demand Team and the IT Security Team. In this department worked interfaced with end users and was also given tasks which helped in giving an holistic view of how challenges are being handled in the IT department.
Then i trained in the Finance Department, HR Department, Rollout Department and PMO Department. I learnt about the processes and all daily tasks and major projects handled by various units in the various departments.
