I worked at a small-scale family piggery farm owned by my parent with a capacity for 450 piglets, growers, sow and boars.

I was able to:

• Identify and manage health issues in pigs;
• ensure that water is available.
• make sure that pigs are fed the right amount and kind of feed.
• monitor barn conditions, such as temperature and air movement.
• ensure humane handling, such as assisting with births.
• assist with euthanizing animals when needed.
• wean, weigh, and sort pigs.
• administer vaccinations and other preventive treatments;
• maintain equipment and buildings.
• maintain paper and electronic records of data, such as births, weight gains, health treatments and breeding dates.
• and perform general farm tasks
