I am a Field epidemiologist with extensive experience in public health, committed to supporting all PHC activities, including immunization, disease surveillance, and health system strengthening. Skilled in data management, outbreak response, and community health interventions, I am eager to contribute my expertise to enhance health outcomes and promote sustainable healthcare solutions. Ready to collaborate with diverse teams and drive impactful programs in any organization.
Key Responsibilities & Achievements: Additional National-Level Contributions:
During my NFELTP residency and AFENET-GID Fellowship in Jigawa State, I actively contributed to strengthening public health surveillance, data-driven decision-making, and outbreak preparedness. I worked closely with state epidemiology units to improve surveillance data quality, conduct research, evaluate surveillance systems, and coordinate response to priority disease outbreaks. The fellowship enhanced my competency in field investigation, data analysis, and public health programme implementation.
During my service year at the Kano Zoological Garden, I actively contributed to animal healthcare, welfare, and conservation programmes across diverse species including carnivores, primates, herbivores, aviary species, and reptiles. My role involved routine clinical duties, preventive medicine, and participation in wildlife management activities. I also supported public education and worked collaboratively with zookeepers, veterinary personnel, and wildlife handlers to maintain high standards of animal health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Achievements:
The activities involved structured implementation across three phases: pre-campaign, intra-campaign, and post-campaign.
Pre-campaign activities focused on micro-planning, team training, vaccine allocation, community sensitization, and cold-chain assessments to ensure readiness. During the intra-campaign phase, vaccination teams were deployed across wards, with daily supervision, monitoring for missed children, real-time reporting, and supportive supervision to strengthen coverage and resolve field challenges. Post-campaign activities involved data review, harmonization of tally sheets, LQAS surveys, performance evaluation, mop-ups for under-served areas, and final debriefing to assess reach and impact of the intervention.
I participated in active COVID-19 surveillance at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport with the aim of early detection, isolation, and interruption of potential transmission chains among incoming travelers. My responsibilities included screening passengers for symptoms and travel history, facilitating sample collection for PCR testing, isolating suspected cases, and supporting rapid contact tracing to prevent further spread. I was involved in documenting and analyzing surveillance data, generating epidemiological reports, and collaborating with port health, airport authorities, and public health teams to strengthen response activities. This role enhanced airport-based surveillance effectiveness and contributed to maintaining public health safety during the pandemic.
Strengthened IDSR reporting through surveillance data review, analysis, and weekly trend monitoring.
Conducted field monitoring and supportive supervision to DSNOs, health facilities, and surveillance focal persons.
Participated in outbreak investigation, verification of rumors, and coordinated response for priority diseases.
Provided technical support in data quality audits, case reporting, sample collection, and real-time reporting.
Facilitated capacity building and mentorship for health workers on surveillance tools, case definitions, and reporting channels.
Contributed to weekly epidemiological summaries, surveillance bulletins, and feedback dissemination across LGAs.
Provide technical oversight and support for planning, implementation, and monitoring of Measles-Rubella campaigns at state/LGA levels.
Strengthen routine immunization and MR surveillance through data review, case detection support, and timely reporting.
Conduct field supervision of vaccination teams, monitor coverage, track missed children, and support corrective actions.
Build capacity of health workers on MR vaccination strategies, cold-chain handling, and use of reporting tools.
Support micro-planning, vaccine distribution logistics, and documentation of daily campaign performance.
Participate in outbreak investigation, response coordination, and verification of suspected measles cases.
Generate and submit daily situation reports, campaign summaries, and post-campaign performance evaluation.
