SPM / Tandem Mooring Master – Key Job Profile
Safeguarded safe and efficient berthing, tandem mooring, unberthing, and cargo operations of tanker vessels at SPM facilities, including crude oil and clean petroleum product tankers. Conducted and supervised mooring operations, vessel approach, connection/disconnection of cargo hoses, and loading/unloading operations, coordinating closely with vessel Master, Marine Control, Terminal, and cargo teams.
Ensures all operations are conducted in strict compliance with applicable international maritime regulations and industry best practices, including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISGOTT, terminal procedures, and relevant safety management systems. Maintains continuous assessment of weather, sea state, vessel condition, mooring integrity, under-keel clearance, and operational risks, with authority to suspend or abort operations whenever safety standards are compromised.
Maintained highest standards of marine safety, pollution prevention, cargo integrity, operational efficiency, and environmental protection throughout SPM and tandem mooring operations.
Approximately 12 years of extensive seagoing experience on various classes and sizes of tanker vessels, including VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax, LR1, LR2, and Oil/Chemical Tankers (IMO Type I & Type II).
Experienced in the safe navigation, cargo operations, tanker handling, and overall marine operations of both Crude Oil and Clean Petroleum Product tankers, with exposure to a wide range of vessel configurations, cargoes, terminals, and operational environments.
Approximately 12 years of extensive seagoing experience as Chief Officer on ocean-going tanker vessels 2009–2016, serving on VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax, LR1, LR2, and Oil/Chemical Tankers IMO Type I & Type II.
Responsible for end-to-end cargo operations, including cargo planning, loading, and discharging of a wide range of products such as sweet crude, sour crude with high H₂S content, clean petroleum products, and various chemical cargoes.
Experienced in cargo tank preparation and cleaning for subsequent cargoes in accordance with industry best practices and guidelines, including BP Tank Cleaning Guide and Dr. Verwey recommendations, ensuring safe, efficient, and contamination-free operations.
Accountable for the effective implementation of the Planned Maintenance System PMS and ensuring vessel readiness for third-party inspections, including PSC, SIRE, Flag State, and Class surveys.
