Akaninyene Essien is a Microfinance Practitioner with more than twelve (12) years professional experience in credit, Operations, customer service and training. He holds a B.Ed degree and also an alumnus of UNICAL(Nigeria), TDLC(Japan), CHPD(United Kingdom), LAMED(Nigeria) among others. His current work in Ekondo Microfinance Bank Limited as Group Loan Supervisor includes identification of potential markets for group loans around branches of the bank as well as appraisal of group loan requests from the branches and make recommendation to Management. He is passionate about financial inclusion and poverty reduction among the economically active poor in Nigeria.
Identification of potential markets for group loans around branches and taking steps to convert same.
Be responsible for the growth of the group loan portfolio across the branches working with respective Branch Managers.
To liaise with HR to train group loan/collection officers before deployment to the field using approved SOPs.
Supervises the day to day running of the branch and ensures that all the Units of the branch functions efficiently to make and sustain profit.
Ensure at all times that customers of the bank are given the best services in all facets of banking, including cash deposits, withdrawal, credits and advisory services.
Branch Manager is the lead marketer of the branch and must ensure that all the products of the bank are properly marketed and sold to customers with the business area.
Develop and manage a team of well-trained, focused and motivated staff.
Supervision and co-ordination of activities of divisions in the region.
Analyze operational risks, procedures, workflow and controls on an ongoing basis for continual improvement of operational systems.
Standardization in the effective management of branch expansion programme.
Relate with management for the effective management of delinquency.
Supervision and co-ordination of activities of branches in the division.
Conducting orientation sessions and on the job training for new employees.
Conduct and supervise training and development programmes for staff.
Maintain all relevant accounts records.
Planning and inspection of group’s formation before approval of disbursement.
Coordinating and guiding of staff.
