- Defined work scope and technical specifications for the construction of process equipment with the process Engineer. Discovered that the facility can actually produce 90,000 barrels per day BPD of crude oil instead of 40000 BPD presently producing.
- Evaluated the foundation integrity of the surge vessel and bund walls to know if new ones are required by using filter integrity and hydrostatic test respectively. I discovered that no new ones were required as they can still serve the purpose to which they were designed however, an additional surge vessel was recommended to cater for the increase in flow capacity.
- Carried out Structural integrity test for existing foundation structures of the low and high pressure separators by using filter integrity test. Results shows that foundation are in good conditions however, an additional high pressure separator was recommended to maximize the functionality of the facility.
- Defined repair scope for storm water drainages. After thorough investigation on existing drainage channels, I discovered that some lines have been blocked as a result of collapse drainage walls, no adequate flows due to the presence of oily silt at bottom of the drains. I recommended silt removal, construction of additional drainages to replace damage ones and proper channeling of flood waters.
- Estimation of surge vessel required. A surge vessel of lower capacity was also recommended to serve as back up to the existing one in order to maximise the potentials of the flow station.
- Upon investigating the perimeter fencing, it was discovered that virtually all the foundation base had been eroded due to lack of adequate drainage system. A new perimeter fencing was recommended with a Y16 reinforced concrete base and column because of the marshy terrain in addition to the drainage system earlier recommended.
